Machine Maintenance
After completing this module, students will be able to oil the machine and set up a schedule for the machine's daily and weekly maintenance.
Objectives:

Students will learn steps to oil the hook race.

Students will learn steps to oil the needle bars.

Students will learn steps to oil the crank rod, main shaft, and y-carriage bushings.

Students will set up a maintenance schedule for oiling the parts of the machine.
Students will need to know how to maintenance the machine for the following reasons:

Optimal machine performance.

Prolong machine life.

Step 1:
Watch the video, below, about how to oil the hook race, needle bars, crank rod, main shaft and y-carriage bushings on the Elna 970 embroidery machine.

Step 2:
Now it's your turn! Rewatch the video next to the Elna 970. Change the appropriate settings and find all of the parts of the machine mentioned in the video. When you feel comfortable finding all of the parts, then go to Step 3.

Using the attached pages (pdf) from the instructional manual, oil the machine. Use the video (Step 2) for reference and stop/reverse the video as needed to help you along.

Step 4:
Evaluation
After you have practiced oiling the machine, you will need to create a maintenance schedule for the Elna 970. Use the maintenance manual (.pdf) provided in Step 3, to get the information that you need.
Create your maintenance schedule in a text editor, such as Google Docs. Use the current date to help with your schedule. When you have finished, copy and paste your schedule into a response to the "Machine Maintenance" discussion located on the "Forums" page (click link or link in the navigation menu).
After you have posted your maintenance schedule, respond to two classmates posts.
